In 1997 I found a therapy called Healing Touch.
I had read about energy healing but finding Healing Touch allowed me to really make it a part of my life and also to be able to help those I loved who had been in pain. It turned out I could help others as well with this wonderful healing modality, that was the direction that I wanted my life to go in and my formal education into energy healing began.
I took my first Healing Touch class that year and continue to learn more about energy healing all the time. I have always had a strong desire to help people & animals, and I am very thankful to have found Healing Touch as well as other energy healing modalities to help me assist in their healing including mediumship.
When I was younger I use to see spirits and was told by a well meaning sibling that I watch too many spooky movies. When Dugan my dog passed it broke my heart to see him sitting by the window like he did when he was alive waiting for me to come home. I didn’t know what to make of it at that time and felt horrible and very alone and I did not want to see him like this anymore.
Every once in awhile I would catch a glimpse of something that was not there physically or hear something and dismiss it as my imagination. I am thankful to now to embrace my gift and include mediumship to assist with healing. I feel I was given these gifts for a reason and I am no longer afraid and feel very blessed and I am very thankful and blessed to be able to use it to assist others in their healing.

Triumph Story from Healing Touch for Animals

This story is about an amazing student of Carol Komitor’s ... a dog student. This special little female, Siberian husky was mutilated in a small town outside Istanbul, Turkey. Her back legs were cut off just below the stifle (knee) and her toes on the front legs were twisted and deformed as if someone took a pair of pliers to them. That is the gruesome part of the story; the part where it makes anyone who has an ounce of humanity, wretch and then have waves of fury flow through their veins. But, this is only a small part of the story and where the miracles to begin...

When she came from Turkey, her owner, Moe utilized the Healing Touch for Animals® Techniques and her understanding of HTA to assist Triumph in her healing process and adapting to the United States and her new home and environment. With the diligent care of her new owner, the continued veterinary care in Nashville and the HTA facilitation, Triumph learned to walk again with the use of prosthetics and integrated well into her family pack.

What I have seen is that this amazing dog affects everyone she comes in contact with. She surrounds each one with a presence of unconditional love and allows their heavy hearts to mend. She allows us to see possibilities and embrace the vision of change. I feel blessed to have been a part of her healing journey. — Carol Komitor

Since February 2003, Triumph has been through many prosthetic legs and has undergone surgery to establish permanent prostheses. Triumph continues to give back as she works with children at the Vanderbuilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville, TN. In addition, she was awarded the 2005 Heroic Pet of the Year.

Because of the extraordinary story of Triumph and her ability to overcome adversity, The Healing Touch for Animals® Triumph Foundation was established in her honor.

The Healing Touch for Animals® Triumph Foundation is a non-profit organization (status pending). The purpose of the Healing Touch for Animals® Triumph Foundation is to receive and distribute funds to assist Triumph and other animals like Triumph. The Foundation provides funds for Triumph’s care and travel expenses in addition to providing monies for the scientific research of HTA.

Healing Touch: Acupuncture without the needles

Healing touch therapy is a complementary energy-based approach to healing. The goal of healing touch is to restore balance to the human energy system through a heart-centered relationship with the use of contact and non-contact touch. It is believed this balance can help the body in its natural ability to heal.

While healing touch is an alternative treatment, it is becoming more and more accepted at mainstream hospitals. One hospital that provides healing touch therapy is St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, Fla.

Kimberly Gray is the head of the Healing Touch Program there. She's a nurse who has used healing touch for three years with her patients. Her managers, doctors and other nurses started to notice what a difference healing touch had on the patients.

So, in 2004, the hospital gave her a chance to do healing touch 100 percent of the time and to track the results of her work.

Gray conducted a study with 140 patients at the hospital. The patients rated their pain, anxiety and nausea before and after the treatment. The study found the average pain score on a scale of zero to 10 decreased from an average of seven before healing touch treatments to two after healing touch treatments.

The data also shows a decrease in anxiety, nausea, and in some cases, a decrease in hospital length of stay-days. The data also shows an increase in overall patient satisfaction. The results were so impressive, the hospital began a healing touch program and named Kimberly as the head of it.

Healing touch is a bio-field therapy. It is described as being similar to acupuncture without the needles. The healing touch practitioner facilitates the healing process by clearing and balancing the bio-electromagnetic field surrounding the human body. The belief is all healing is self-healing, and the balance of energy helps the body achieve the greatest level of ability to heal.

Patients describe the experience as relaxing and a sense of warmth around them. Many patients experience a profound sense of relaxation following a healing touch therapy session.

Kimberly said some of her greatest allies are those who were first skeptical of healing touch therapy. She said with healing touch therapy, the person does not have to believe in it, but they have to be open to the experience. She said that in healing touch, they do not push the energy; they allow energy to flow through them for the greatest benefit to the patient. In her years as a healing touch practitioner, she has seen amazing results from her work. In one case, she helped a young man come out of a coma.

HTA is used to treat behavioral and physiological issues in companion pets and zoo animals. Those who have witnessed its effects are sold.

What Do the Animals Think?
During HTA techniques, animals ease into a relaxed, receptive state. Even in close quarters with a room full of strangers, all the canines involved in a weekend HTA course relaxed calmly at their owners’ feet within minutes. When dogs receive an individual treatment, they yawn and maneuver to get more comfortable. Horses drop their heads and ears and cock a hind foot as if pondering sleep. Sometimes their lips quiver as if they were being tickled. Observers all note the obvious reactions, all positive, when the pets receive a treatment.

For the skeptics, Komitor gives a scientific premise to the healing benefits of HTA. All of the techniques create a relaxation response in animals, she says, and calming the animal initiates physiology that supports the immune system. “When an animal relaxes, the body releases chemicals in the brain, endorphins, that then allow the physical structure of the body to relax even more,” Komitor says. “So muscles relax, the body has an ease with itself. And with relaxation, circulation increases, which accelerates blood flow and brings in oxygen, nutrients, adequate hormones, and enzymes to help with rejuvenation of the cells. It also helps flush toxins, establishing a healing environment with the body that ultimately boosts the immune system.”

While this relaxation response is no small thing, those who feel the energy and see its effects say something more is going on here. Komitor concedes: “Increased relaxation allows a surrendering of the body on all levels: spiritual, mental, and physical. This allows an environment that can connect with the self, with universe, with God, with nature, and creates wholeness.”
